More and more businesses are switching on to the idea that they can generate additional revenue for their business and offset their carbon emissions by installing commercial EV charging stations. And there are schemes available to assist businesses with the cost of implementing workplace electric vehicle charging. As a Government OZEV approved Commercial EV Charger Installer we have a wide range of workplace charging solutions to suit any requirement.
We supply and install a range of charge points from simple plug-and-play systems all the way up to fully integrated smart charging networks.
Charging units come in a variety of charging ratings that dictate charging speeds. From standard units with 3kW power and charge times of 8 to 14 hours, through to fast charging units up to 22kW delivering speeds of 4 to 6 hours. And beyond that, Rapid and Ultra-Rapid units can deliver 50kW to 200kW power with average charging times of 10 to 20 minutes. It’s really about what is best for your business.
We’re experienced in anything regarding EV Workplace Charger Installation and have been conducting Commercial EV Charger Installations for many years. Part of the MP Walden offering is a design and consultation service that looks at the specific needs of your site.

The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a government scheme for electric vehicles offered by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV). The WCS is open to businesses, charities and public sector organisations that meet the eligibility criteria (see below). And from the 1st April 2022 this scheme has been extended to small accommodation businesses.
Businesses can reduce the cost of Workplace charge points by up to £14,000 with the government WCS grant. It’s a voucher-based grant designed to help with the up-front costs of buying and fitting charge points at a workplace. Businesses of all shapes and sizes can be eligible for £350 funding per charging socket at their workplace car park.
The government has put in place help for businesses and organisations who rent, lease or manage residential properties and install electric vehicle (EV) charging points in their car parks.
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) administers the grant on behalf of the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV).
You can claim up to £30,000 or 75% of the installation cost and can only claim one grant per building. If more charge points are needed in addition to those provided by this grant, then the EV chargepoint grant for landlords can be used.
Businesses can get up to:
£500 per passive parking space
£350 per active parking space
You can receive up to 30 grants per financial year. The financial year runs from 6 April to 5 April the next year.
The EV infrastructure grant for staff and fleets is for small-to-medium-sized businesses in the UK. It is separate to the Workplace Charging Scheme.
The grant covers up to 75% of the cost of installing the infrastructure needed for chargepoints to operate and for future chargepoints to be installed. It also includes the cost of any chargepoints installed. There is a limit of £15,000 per grant.
You can apply for this grant if you are a small-to-medium-sized business with no more than 249 employees.
Your carpark must have at least 5 clearly-marked, off-street parking spaces to be eligible for the grant.
The amount you can receive is:
£350 per chargepoint socket installed
£500 per parking space enabled with supporting infrastructure
February 2024 saw the announcement that state funded schools and education institutions with dedicated off-street parking will see an increase in the grants available under a new grant covered by the WCS. The new grant will provide up to 75% of the cost to buy and install chargepoints, up to £2,500 per socket, up from the previous £350. This will be capped at 40 sockets across all sites. The idea is to boost the chargepoint facilities for staff and visitors and could ultimately help schools to generate revenue by making the chargepoints available to the public.

In addition, as Electric Vehicles and Electric Vehicle Chargers have been around for several years now, we also offer a repairs service, should the worst happen and your electric vehicle charger stops working.
As a Government approved Commercial EV Charger Installer we work with a variety of different EV Charger suppliers (some of which are listed below). We have recently been working closely with Easee. This Scandinavian brand is now making commercial charging solutions specifically for the UK market. They advertise their product as “the ultimate solution for delivering EV Charging at scale for workplaces, apartment blocks, car parks and transitioning your company car fleet to electric.” The feedback we’ve had from customers so far is excellent.
The Easee Charge maximises the available electrical capacity within a building using dynamic load and phase balancing. This is the ultimate solution for delivering EV charging at scale. It’s suitable for the workplace, apartment blocks, car parks or fleet usage. The Charging Robot is compact and lightweight.
Another manufacturer that we have been doing increasingly more installations of are Project EV. This UK company is based in Burton on Trent and is at the forefront of the drive to decarbonise UK and European roads. The main attraction of Project EV to our commercial customers is their excellent range of Rapid and Ultra Rapid DC Chargers.
There is a choice of charger ratings starting with the 20kW Wall DC Charger, ideal for small-scale commercial charging. Right through to the 300kW floor standing unit, an ultra rapid charger that’s perfectly suited for larger commercial charging and fleet charging.
The benefit of DC charging as opposed to domestic AC chargers is that the DC rapid charge bypasses the onboard charging device in Electric Vehicles. It supplies the power safely and directly to the vehicle’s battery. This means charging times of 30 minutes to 4 hours can be achieved. This makes them ideal for fleet charging as well as short-stay parking, hotel meeting venues, hospitals and even service stations.
With 5 charge ratings in the range and charge speeds of 30 minutes to 4 hours, these DC chargers are ideal commercial chargers, suitable for a range of locations and set-ups. You can benefit from:
